jewel-encrusted gowns anyone?

so i noticed that a plethora of stars at the oscars were wearing light-colored-jewel-encrusted gowns.

here are some examples:

1. MILEY CYRUS

this dress on her made me want to gag.  but in all honesty, i thought the dress it self was amazing!! maybe without the belt on someone who can actually act/sing it would be much, much more glamorous.

2. TINA FEY

love her, and her presenting bit was fabulous!

3. SARAH JESSICA PARKER

easily one of my favorites on the red carpet.  this dress is perfection!

4. NICOLE KIDMAN

don't like the neckline, but she's gorgeous!

5. PENELOPE CRUZ

again, i think the neckline didn't work.  it was too small.  but the rest of this dress is FABULOUS!!! i'm so glad she won best supporting actress!

6. JENNIFER ANISTON

kinda boring compared to the other one, but seriously...this lady never ages!

7. ANNE HATHAWAY

i think she is beautiful. and i love how she always rocks a bold red lip.  she went for old hollywood and definitely achieved it!

okay so see what i meant about the trend?  these weren't even everyone wearing this trend, i just tried to limit my post.
